Orgamulch stems from an identified and controlled raw material (wood from the Vosges forest. It is delivered in 1 or 2m by 100 to 200m trunks).

The specifications notify that Orgamulch artefacts must not contain more than 3% of bark chips. Hence the necessity of working on pre-barked trunks.

These logs are subjected to a specific mechanical treatment which gives the product such a peculiar “particled” aspect. Indeed, other products may be made of loose, ripped up materials that make the fibres more absorbent with aggressive and dangerous bumps.

This mechanical work provides an heterogeneous granular size with 0 to 20mm particles. The thin part (0 to 6mm) is removed by sifting.

• The particles of the product are subjected to a high temperature treatment (more than 300°C) to eradicate phenols, tannins and other pathogenic factors. As a result, the phytotoxicity is excluded.
• Afterwards, a mineral solution is spread onto the grainy surface. This technique, patented by AGRESTA, is meant to delay the limits of composting. It also provides a large durability to the spread material and therefore allows mulching of landscapes plants (makes retention of water easier, prevents weed growth and brings a decorative touch).
• The typical physic-chemical features of the product are reported in the enclosed file appendix.
• The retained granular curve (6 to 20mm) allows to prescribe 5 to 6cm thick applications (once installed and adjusted by rain or a watering). The effect is identical to other heterogeneous products which may need supplies from 8 to 10cm.

These various processes reveal that Orgamulch is a manufactured product. It does not stem XXXfrom an industry which uses cellulosic wastes with no clearly identified raw material, some of it being suspected as phytotoxic.
